General Principles of Problem-Solving

Please take 2 minutes to familiarize yourself with the general principles of problem solving.

Structure

Start organizing the structure of your problem by taking a look at its component parts. These components can tell you a lot about the structure of your problem.

Next, see how the different parts of your problem are inter-related.

Now, begin to sort the parts of your problem into groups.

Finally, define the major categories of your problem and put the parts of your problem into those categories.
